Happy New year, my beautiful, bald babes! We are 16 days into the new year, and I have been working on an Alopecia New Year’s Resolution list to share with you for my first post of 2020, BUT!!! We have some iconic new members that have joined the Alopecia club with public announcements that I must introduce.

Ricki Lake – Joined January 1st 2020.
My childhood go-to talk show host is just like me, say what?! I was so surprised to read Ricki’s coming out post, but also so excited to relate to such a celebrity. Her vulnerability is as beautiful as her shaved head! If you missed Ricki’s coming out moment, I got you:

Ayanna Pressley Joined January 16th 2020.
I cried at my desk watching Ayanna’s coming-out video. Damn. Her poise, vulnerability, politics, courage, and bald head, just had me like, damn. What a woman. Her story broke TODAY, which inspired this blog post. Here is a link to the video along with some photos:

I feel so great about 2020 in a lot of ways, but Alopecia is gonna run this town this year. With powerful women spreading Alopecia Awareness, not only are we breaking down the stigma that women have to have hair to be beautiful, we are normalizing it. Soon bald women will be looked at the way bald men are seen, just regular dudes. Only we’ll be regular babes. For now, I’m okay not being regular. I’m going to soak up this ‘ “what’s wrong with her?” “Does she have Cancer?” “She pullin’ a Britney Spears,” ‘ kinda vibe and try to wear my wigs a little less often. These new members have me motivated. What or who is motivating you this year? Xo
