I found these limited edition caramel apple Oreos and had to create something orgasmic with them! I have been wanting to bake doughnuts for a fall morning, so i thought this would be the perfect combination. They are bursting with flavor!
Baked Apple Doughnuts
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1 apple peeled, and chopped
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a medium sized bowl combine the dry ingredients. In another bowl combine the wet ingredients, except the apple. Pour the wet ingredient mixture into the dry and beat with an electric mixture until combined. Mix in the apple. Grease your doughnut pan and pour your batter in, filling each pocket almost to the top but, not quite. About 3/4 of the way full. Bake for 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely before topping.
Caramel Sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
In a medium sized sauce pan over medium-high heat bring all ingredients to a boil. Stir constantly with a wire whisk for about 5 minutes. The consistency should thicken. Remove from heat and allow to cool. It will become thicker as it cools.
Caramel Apple Oreos
Chop half of the package into small chunks. Place the other half of the package into a food processor and grind into crumbs.
Now for the fun part, dip your doughnuts into caramel and top with cookie chunks and crumbs. This is a free for all. I did a variation of toppings.
Take a bite, cream yourself, have another bite. You’re welcome 🙂
