I am self taught baker and I am also pretty stubborn, so baking classes were never something I considered taking in the past. As I have gotten older I am very open to learning tricks and techniques from other bakers which is why I signed up for Matchbox Kitchen’s Basic Cake Workshop at the Line Hotel. Everything about this experience was so great!
Sara Tso is the owner/baker who only uses fresh, organic ingredients. No artificial food dyes or fondant here. I admire her patience. She puts her cake batter through a strainer to get rid of any tiny lumps to get the smoothest texture possible. Talk about attention to detail! Sara really loves baking and teaching her craft. The class was delightful. I have never decorated with flowers and berries but I definitely will be now!
P.S. The Line Hotel is a place worth visiting. It’s in the middle of Koreatown on Wilshire. They have some amazing restaurants. I ate at Pot afterwards and I was in heaven with the flavors!
